How does the Chat Feature function?

We just performed an overhaul of the chat client in order to resolve some performance issues on the server. It no longer opens at the bottom of the page. Now you will get a separate tab when you first log in. You will want to leave this tab open at all times or it will keep re-opening itself or you will miss chat notifications. When a new chat arrives the speech bubble at the top of the screen will slowly blink. You can acknowledge these new chats by switching back to the dedicated chat tab and reading them.

  1. If you have users still getting the old style chat at the bottom of their screen have them perform a hard refresh once to clear their browsers cache: ctrl+shift+r (cmd+shift+r on mac).
  2. If you have users who's chat window never pops-up have them allow pop-ups on their browsers for QuickEMR.com domain see the following help links for how to: https://bit.ly/2N0mcLH and https://bit.ly/2Qls68u
  3. If you have users not receiving the chat notices (the slow blink of the speech bubble), make sure they are using Google Chrome and have fully updated their browser to the latest version (see): https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
  4. If your users are having trouble because the chat tab keeps opening simply tell them to stop closing the tab. They can just switch back to the tab they wanted without closing it and it will no longer re-open and take over the screen. If they don't want it in their window/tab-group they can drag the chat tab out into a new window and minimize it.
