How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication

How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring both your password and a verification code from your device, making it much harder for unauthorized users to access your account.  QuickEMR now has the ability to utilize a third party application for multi-factor authentication.  This can be set up for each user, though only by that specific user who is logged in.  The application will provide a TOTP (time-based one-time password) for the user to log into their system, along with their login username and password.

How to Set Up MFA:
1. Navigate to Lists --> Users.
2. Select a user and navigate to the Account Info tab.
3. Check the box for Authenticator App and press Save.
**TOTP MFA can only be set up for your own account**

This will populate a new QR code that you can then scan using an Authenticator application of your choice.

Once you have successfully connected your QuickEMR login with your authenticator app, you will then be able to utilize MFA upon your next log in, after you have correctly input your username and password.
Enter the 6 digit code that your authenticator app has provided and press Submit.
